ironsofcanada - Oh really? Damn I thought it would be common there?

I remember it even as a kid around 40 years ago.

Anyway more storms to come, might have to go out this weekend.

thundersnow would be a new one for me, if I experienced it.

At home it would have to be over 20 to get thunderstorms but when then came they were glorious.

Just need to give it a catchy name - I guess slightning and SUPERSNOW aren't quite good enough - and they'll be all over it.

Nurse Ratched 2:45 - Thundersnow.

Actually quite common (IF it snows) but In this new social media world it's rare, as with most weather phenomena, oh and the Moon, for some reason lots of people have discovered the Moon all of a sudden.
And theres SUPERMOONS, BLOOD MOONS etc

Anyway Ciara left a trail of destruction across the country apart from North London it seems so it didn't happen.

All calm now up here on the east coast but my TV aerial has gone for a Burton (where did that saying come from?). I'll expect the missus will be moaning like fuck in the morning because she won't get to see that parasite Piers Morgan kicking off on the telly.

I'll not tell her to pick that shit up on the Sky box either ;)

Just back from an errand - lots of stop starting and driving around tree branches, a bin, a fence, done scaffold and tarp... Hut actual driving fine.

Windy as fuck here earlier, though I do live next to a beach on the east coast.

My dog enjoyed it though and not a tree down in sight, so hardly a hurricane.

All we have in north London is brief showers of rain and a not particularly significant winds. Rubbish. Where's my weather armageddon?

I feel robbed. It's just like 1987. I was living in Teignmouth in Devon. I woke up to some bloke on the wireless saying "If you want to see what the aftermath of a nuclear war might look like, take a look outside your window" (or something along those lines). I looked out of the window and all was well. I assumed it was a prank or the continuation of an earlier joke I didn't hear. Had a shower, left for work very early because I was due to go on a day's training course in Bristol. Reading my book on the train, I occasionally glanced out the window and didn't notice anything particularly untoward. Wasn't till I got to Exeter I heard announcements about bad weather conditions. Bristol seemed largely intact, from what I saw of it.

Weirdest weather I've seen in this country is streaks of lightning when it was snowing. That snowfall was epic. Think that was about early 2000s.

This picnic needs planning.

A doily or a slice of ham travelling at 80mph probably won't do much damage.

A wine bottle might.
